The concept of Fibonacci is multi-dimensional and begins with understanding it’s basis as a series of numbers, such that:
a+b=c, b+c=d, d+e=f, etc.
The ratio of two consecutive numbers are measures of the two dimensions of a rectangle, also called “the golden rectangle”. The arc created by swinging a line from corner to corner is found in nature, architecture, harmonics, great works of art, and on and on and on.
This concept seems a fitting theme for a group of artists, responding to and creating from materials of our world. Even the word, “FEE-BOH-NAH-CHEE!”, rolls off the tongue in a beautiful way, like the Fibonacci arc.
Fibonacci was an Italian mathematician living in the early 1200’s, whose name was given to the number sequence.
